I am Lauren Fanelli, a Registered Dietitian here in beautiful Austin, Texas. I grew up in Austin, earned my bachelors degree and completed my dietetic internship at Texas State University in San Marcos, then moved right back to my home town. I live for food, fitness and fun and try to find ways to combine all three. Luckily, living in Austin provides me with all sorts of avenues for different types of physical activity and cuisines.
I married the love of my life, Damian Fanelli, June 19, 2010 and we absolutely love married life. You can read more about Damian in the Whos' Who section. We recently bought our first home and are having a blast being homeowners, whether its the good or bad that comes along with owning a house :).

I am so fortunate Damian is as active as I am and loves the outdoors. We love to play soccer, go hiking, bikeriding, you name it and we do it! All of our vacations tend to involve some form of physical or outdoor activity.

One of my favorite hobbies is cooking and baking. I can almost always be found in the kitchen cooking up something new or putting a healthy spin on a classic. I am a vegetarian, well lacto-ovo-pescatarian to be more exact. I do eat dairy, eggs and fish. On the other hand, Damian is a 'man's man' and loves his meat. I accommodate both of our preferences and cook dishes accordingly. I love to create my own recipes and it helps that Damian will try everything at least once. He is amorous about my cooking and his pallate has definitely broadened since he met me. He always takes his time making a judgement about a dish until he has fully savored every aspect of the meal. Damian is very honest and I take his constructive critisms whole-heartedly. I want to perfect my cooking skills and become the best chef I can, and who knows, maybe one day there will be a Lauren's Cafe!
Damian and I bought our first home in July this year and we are absolutely loving being homeowners. It is so much fun to have your own place that You own. We were lucky to find a house that was updated, so all we had to do was put our own personal touches on everything. One of my favorite rooms in the house, and where I spend a significant amount of time, is the kitchen! I am soo excited to have my own kitchen!!! I love the counter-space, cabinet-space, and stainless steel appliances! That was definitely a HUGE plus when we were looking at houses. Hopefully many yummy recipes will come out of that kitchen!
